The five identifiers

  1. Interested Parties Information (IPI) - is a unique identifying number assigned by the CISAC database to each Interested Party in collective rights management. It is used worldwide by more than 120 countries and three million right holders.

  2. International Standard Musical Work Code (ISWC) - is a unique identifier for musical works, similar to ISBN for books. It is adopted as international standard ISO 15707. The ISO subcommittee with responsibility for the standard is TC 46/SC 9.

  3. International Standard Recording Code (ISRC) - is an international standard code for uniquely identifying sound recordings and music video recordings. The code was developed by the recording industry in conjunction with the ISO technical committee 46, subcommittee 9 (TC 46/SC 9), which codified the standard as ISO 3901 in 1986, and updated it in 2001. An ISRC identifies a particular recording, not the work (composition and lyrical content) itself. Therefore, different recordings, edits, and remixes of the same work should each have their own ISRC. Works are identified by ISWC. Recordings remastered or revised in other ways are usually assigned a new ISRC

  4. International Performance Number (IPN) -

  5. International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI) - is an identifier system for uniquely identifying the public identities of contributors to media content such as books, television programs, and newspaper articles. Such an identifier consists of 16 digits.

Insights

  • 1st song off of Paradise Falls was recorded at the now defunct River Bear Studios. Sadly, they wouldn't release the stems (each individual track) to me. Great working with them, bunch of talented guys, but didn't think that was cool businesswise.

  • But I guess that was a blessing in disguise because I never would have found TuneDesigner! I've recorded every song with them thus far. They're the best! Super Pro, great to work with, talented, creative. They'll bend over backwards to get the job done. Thank you TuneDesigner!

  • 2nd album was originally called Issues, then Mirror, Mirror, then Some Kind of Tragedy, then You and I vs the World, then eventually, I went with Funeral to Our Youth.

5 Reasons why NOW is the best time for you to start posting more music:

Read the caption (down arrow)

  1. Digital Platforms: With the proliferation of digital music platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube, there are more avenues than ever to distribute and promote your music. These platforms offer exposure to a global audience, allowing independent artists to reach listeners worldwide.

  2. Social Media Reach: Social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter provide powerful tools for promoting music and connecting with fans. Engaging content and strategic use of hashtags can help your music reach a wider audience and build a loyal fanbase.

  3. Streaming Revenue: The streaming industry continues to grow, and while streaming payouts can vary, they offer a significant revenue stream for artists, especially those who consistently release new music. Posting more music can increase your streaming numbers, leading to higher royalties over time.

  4. Creative Freedom: With advancements in home recording technology and the rise of DIY culture, artists have more creative freedom than ever before. You can experiment with different genres, styles, and production techniques without the need for a major record label, allowing you to express yourself authentically through your music.

  5. Audience Demand: In today's fast-paced digital world, audiences crave new content regularly. By consistently posting music, you can keep your audience engaged and interested in your work. Building momentum with frequent releases can also help you stay relevant in an oversaturated market and increase your chances of gaining traction within the music industry.

Promoting music on Spotify - Spotify

The Fans Also Like feature isn’t manually curated, but determined by looking at your fans’ listening habits. It appears we currently don't have enough listening data to add Fans Also Like to your profile.

To help generate more data:

- Stay active on social media. Encourage your fans to follow and stream your playlists and music on Spotify.

Create and share artist playlists with descriptive titles (e.g. ‘[[artist name]]’s top [[genre]] picks’) to help us match you with similar artists. Start by adding your music, songs you listen to, and artists you’re similar to.
